The Fuhr 859 Split Spindle Multipoint Door Lock features a secure configuration with 4 rollers, 2 hooks, 1 deadbolt, and 1 latch, making it ideal for enhancing security on uPVC and aluminium doors.

Designed with a split spindle nightlatch operation, this model shares the same base platform as the Fuhr 855 (keywind) and 856 (lift lever) series. While locking point layouts may vary slightly, the core design and reliability remain consistent across these models.

The 859 lock is compatible with a variety of door types. Identification is easiest once removed from the door — look for the distinct triangular marking near the top fixing screw on the gearbox and the Fuhr branding on the faceplate.

Gearbox Features:

• Deadbolt throws 20mm (14mm on 25mm and 30mm backset versions)
• Gearbox dimensions: approximately 220mm high x 18mm wide
• Latch and deadbolt each measure 31mm in height
• Distance between latch and deadbolt: 61mm
• Fixing screws spaced at 91mm (top to middle) and 108mm (middle to bottom)
• Pre-fitted ball bearing and spring provide a firmer and more positive locking feel

Important Note on Latch Sizes:

Older gearboxes may have a 28mm high latch, while newer models feature a 33mm latch. If the existing latch is in good condition, it can be removed and reused by loosening the side screw with an Allen key.

Note: Some 30mm backset gearboxes, especially on Smarts Aluminium bifold doors, may not be interchangeable with standard models.

Hooks and Rollers:

• Hooks throw 20mm and are housed in a 135.5mm x 40mm x 15mm case (all hooks throw upwards)
• Roller cams travel 19mm and are adjustable by ±0.8mm

Operation: Split Spindle

To lock the door:

• Lift the handle to engage all hooks, rollers, and the deadbolt
• Turn the key to fully lock the mechanism

To unlock the door:

• Use the key to release the locking points
• Push the handle down to retract the latch and open the door

Latch Reversal:

To reverse the latch, remove the side screw next to it, take out the latch, flip it, and secure it again with the same screw.

Nightlatch Reversal:

Insert the split spindle two-thirds of the way into the internal side and one-third into the external side.
