These egress-only friction stays are engineered to give a full fire-escape opening on side-hung uPVC casement windows, supporting emergency escape routes in bedrooms and habitable rooms. Once the escape opening has been used, the hinge automatically resets when the window is closed – there are no extra buttons, catches or steps required. Manufactured from premium 430-grade stainless steel with a pointed sash arm and nylon end cap for excellent gasket compression and smooth, quiet operation. Integrated friction adjustment lets the window hold securely open in any position, while the anthracite grey end caps give a clean, modern finish. Supplied as a pair in 13mm stack height, with six 4mm packers included to convert to 17mm stack, plus 12 fixing screws – everything needed to swap out a worn pair in one visit. |

How do I know which size I need?
Measure the metal track of your existing hinge from end to end. Approximately 305mm is a 12" hinge and approximately 410mm is a 16" hinge. Then check the stack height – the gap between the sash and frame when closed. If it’s 13mm, fit the hinges as supplied; if it’s 17mm, add the included 4mm packers.
What’s the difference between egress and egress easy-clean hinges?
Egress hinges give a wide fire-escape opening. Easy-clean versions add a second slide-back function so the outer glass can be cleaned from inside. These are egress-only hinges – the correct like-for-like replacement if your current hinges don’t have the slide-across cleaning feature.
Do these meet fire escape regulations?
They are designed to provide an egress opening to support emergency escape in line with Approved Document B guidance. The overall compliance of the window depends on its size – check your finished clear opening meets the required escape dimensions for your property.
Are they sold singly or as a pair?
As a pair – one left-hand and one right-hand stay – complete with 6 packers and 12 screws, so one order does one window.
